Magistrate Judge

Appointed by the elected judges as Magistrate in 2024, Magistrate Evans has presided over numerous cases, including bench and jury trials. He has heard cases involving criminal, family law, guardianship, juvenile, probate, child welfare, protective orders, and civil disputes. In this role, Magistrate Evans has earned a reputation for maintaining a calm, efficient courtroom, ensuring that all parties—regardless of representation—are heard with respect and dignity.

Private Practice

Prior to his judicial service, he practiced law in a private capacity for over 15 years, gaining comprehensive experience in both civil and criminal litigation. This broad background provides Magistrate Evans with a firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing practitioners and litigants alike. The breadth and depth of his varied legal experience uniquely qualifies him to be an elected Judge.

Public Defender in Juvenile System

Prior to serving on the bench, Magistrate Evans served as a public defender in the juvenile system for over six years. In this capacity, he gained extensive knowledge in criminal law and in vital issues affecting Hamilton County families.

Community Roots & Education

A proud resident of Hamilton County for over 35 years, Magistrate Evans is committed to making local courts accessible and efficient. He graduated from Noblesville High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University with high distinction and his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan - Cooley Law School. He lives in Noblesville with his wife of 21 years and their three children. Magistrate Evans is active in his local church and in the Hamilton County Bar Association. He has also served as a volunteer guardian ad litem and mock trial volunteer judge. Giving back to the community that has given him so much is a core value for Magistrate Evans, and it informs his approach to justice and public service.
